In 2023, WSCF distributed 42 microgrants totaling $200,000 across two grant cycles. The grant recipients’ projects span food security, health & wellness, art & education, economic empowerment, and community improvement.

  • Project: Collaboration with the students and staff at P138M@33 to design and build a number of adaptations.

  • Project: Programs to support the health & well-being of underserved Asian community members, especially seniors. Funds will be used to support a medication adherence program and a nutrition and grocery delivery program.

  • Project: A series of free creative based classes designed with the specific needs of Autistic adults in mind, catering towards attendees sensory needs and different learning styles.

  • Project: Startup NYCHA is an initiative to bring social entrepreneurship programs and business development resources to NYCHA complexes. Funds will support a pilot program at Fulton Houses, in partnership with the Tenant Association.

  • Project: Development and publication of a mobile application that will allow pedestrians to report the conditions encountered while walking.

  • Project: Support for new writers and advertising for long range content. CCN will continue to produce weekly, monthly and now quarterly content.

  • Project: An internship program that offers valuable career experience to senior high school students through partnerships with top restaurants and food-related businesses.

  • Project: A three-workshop series tailored for seniors, offering an immersive experience in learning Tango essentials.

  • Project: Entertainment in Chelsea Green Park in December and March.

  • Project: Operation of the Hell’s Kitchen Community Cupboard: rescuing food from local businesses to redirect to residents facing food insecurity and continuing to provide fresh produce to community members.

  • Project: A five-week course that trains members in knife, cooking, and baking skills, to prepare members for job placement in professional kitchens. The program will serve women, immigrants, and people of color.

  • Project: Free community yoga classes, including yoga dance for children, accessible yoga for seniors, and yoga open to anyone in the community who lacks access to affordable yoga.

  • Project: Maintenance of two floating modular docks at the Pier 96 Boathouse, to support the free kayaking program.

  • Project: Funds will support work on two one-act plays, which give Seniors who still want to engage in the performing arts a chance to do so.

  • Project: Meals for migrant families living in shelters in Midtown Manhattan who have children attending PS11. Meals are provided in partnership with Holy Apostles and Support + Feed.

  • Project: Respite care and ongoing emergency support for asylum seekers in and around our community. Aim to increase the services and support in the coming months to include more legal aid, parenting support, life skills programs, etc.

  • Project: A capacity-building project to expand RUSA’s services to the fast-growing population of Eurasian LGBTQ asylum seekers, with focus on the midtown West Side area.

In May 2023, $100,000 was distributed to 21 organizations serving the west side of Manhattan.

  • Mission: Alpha Workshop's mission is to provide decorative arts education and employment to adults with visible or invisible disabilities and/or vulnerabilities.

    Project: Alpha Workshops is developing a curriculum for individuals with disabilities to study decorative arts. This vocational program is designed to support each individual with work readiness tactics for careers in decorative art. Wall finishes, custom lighting, painting and stencil work are some examples of decorative art.

  • Mission: Art Start’s mission is to use the creative process to nurture the voices, hearts, and minds of historically marginalized youth, offering a space for them to imagine, believe, and represent their creative vision for their lives and communities.

    Project: Art Start will develop art workshops for children living in shelters

  • Mission: Art For Progress’ Arts Education Community provides under-served youth with dynamic artistic programming that promotes reflection and self-expression.

    Project: Art for Progress is providing arts education to underfunded schools serving at-risk youth in New York City. They are currently partnering with Lorge, a school in Chelsea for children with disabilities. The program will provide art and music classes for their students.

  • Mission: Cambio Labs is committed to empowering underestimated youth and adults by providing access to entrepreneurial education, employment opportunities,and generational wealth. Their mission is to build a more equitable and sustainable future by empowering and upskilling the next generation of purpose-driven leaders and changemakers.

    Project: Startup NYCHA is an initiative to bring social entrepreneurship programs and business development resources to NYCHA complexes. Cambio Labs will work with NYCHA residents in launching their own companies and gaining access to employment and business opportunities.

  • Mission: CHEKPEDS aims to improve safety, quality of life, and equity for pedestrians in Hell's Kitchen and Chelsea.

    Project: Walkmapper is a mobile application that will allow pedestrians –through visual interface– to report 100% of the conditions encountered while walking. The app will automatically mobilize BIDs, Community Boards, and elected officials to assist in obtaining services.

  • Mission: Chelsea Community News’ mission is to provide unique and insightful news, arts, feature, and opinion content, via their website, to those who live, work, and play in their areas of coverage--free of charge.

    Project: Chelsea Community News is expanding their news coverage to Flatiron, Meatpacking, Hudson Yards, and Hell’s Kitchen.

  • Mission: Chelsea Elliott Tenants Association’s mission is to improve affordable housing, protect tenants rights, and develop tenant empowerment.

    Project: To address community concerns (e.g. SNAP benefits being reduced), the Association is putting together 8-12 community dinners, creating a space for discussion of these topics.

  • Mission: Friends of Argentine Tango believe that Tango and other Latin dances provide a link between mind, body and spirit. Their goal is to bring the joys and benefits of these dances across New York City, and in doing so, to encourage movement, connection, self-expression, body awareness, and inclusion.

    Project: In collaboration with local senior centers, the organization will conduct tango classes during Spanish Heritage Month in October 2023.

  • Mission: The Friends of Chelsea Green is an advocacy group for the Chelsea Green Park (on 20th St. between 6th and 7th Avenues). They work to create community in the park through events and activities for park users and the surrounding neighborhood.

    Project: Friends of Chelsea Green will put together a summer music series for youth and seniors in Chelsea Green Park. These concerts will be hosted twice a month during summer evenings.

  • Mission: Housing Conservation Coordinators (HCC) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization anchored in the Hell’s Kitchen/Clinton neighborhood. They are dedicated to advancing social and economic justice and fighting for the rights of poor, low-income and working individuals and families. With a primary focus on strengthening and preserving affordable housing, they seek to promote a vibrant and diverse community with the power to shape its own future.

    Project: Given the upcoming expiration of 421-a, HCC is leading a 421-a tenant education project. They will support tenants in knowing their rights by hosting bi-monthly information sessions.

  • Mission: Keoni Movement Arts' mission is to make yoga, dance, and gymnastics accessible to individuals in the Greater New York City Area. Their vision is an inclusive world of empowered individuals with strong bodies, minds, and spirits connected to the global community.

    Project: Keoni Movement Arts will continue their work with the community in offering yoga for youth, seniors and teens.

  • Mission: MCCNY offers a spiritual home for New York City's LGBTQIA+ community, open to all. Their social services aim to empower LGBTIA+ individuals and the whole community by providing nourishment and services that promote healing, growth and acceptance for all people.

    Project: MCCNY plans to renovate and expand their food pantry, which will support many families within the community.

  • Mission: MSCC’s mission is to dismantle the causes of homelessness by building an equitable, just, and sustainable social infrastructure to ensure dignity, health, and home for all. Their vision is a city where homelessness and poverty are eradicated.

    Project: The Urban Farm Program addresses food insecurity and poor nutrition; additionally, it promotes community building and engagement. The fresh food is transported and distributed from both farms to midtown communities, especially those living in shelters, those arriving from the southern border, and those with insecure housing.

  • Mission: New York City Community Chorus aims to restore singing to the day-to-day life of ordinary people and to create goodwill in the community through singing.

    Project: The Chorus will provide free choral training to community members; it will also host public concerts after training is complete (in June 2023).

  • Mission: NYC Salt’s mission is to engage, inspire, and empower youth from underserved, predominantly immigrant communities in New York City to reach their full potential and develop a sense of agency, belonging, and integrated identity through the lens of a camera.

    Project: NYC Salt will work with underserved high school students to provide photography instruction, career exposure and mentorship.

  • Mission: PS11 Friends of Asylum Seekers was set up to provide support to migrant families living in shelters in midtown Manhattan who have children attending PS11.

    Project: In collaboration with PS11, the group will work with migrant families who attend the school and live in shelters. Support includes supplying clothing and meals.

  • Mission: Rauschenbusch Metro Ministries (RMM) provides direct and educational services that promote individual and community growth. RMM programs meet basic needs of the most vulnerable, provide youth and adults with educational opportunities that help them achieve their academic and personal goals, and foster a vibrant community life in its diverse New York City neighborhood.

    Project: RMM will support migrant families and individuals experiencing homelessness by providing hot meals, educational programs, life skills workshops, and emergency supplies.

  • Mission: S3VEN Inc provides services to help those who have been impacted by domestic violence.

    Project: S3VEN Inc, in collaboration with Fulton Houses Tenant Association, will conduct workshops for domestic violence victims.

  • Mission: Dream Center NYC exists to partner with local communities through programs designed around identity, empowerment, purpose, and neighborhood engagement in order to see neighborhoods flourish across New York City.

    Project: The Adopt a Block program will support the community through mobile pantries and seasonal events to provide school supplies, turkeys, toys, and more.

  • Mission: The Dwelling Place is a small, unique, privately funded transitional housing program for women who have suffered a major traumatic event. Their mission is to offer safe shelter, individualized care, support, and guidance to women who are in the midst of a crisis.

    Project: The organization will reinstate their food pantry program, which paused during COVID.

  • Mission: W42ST keeps Hell's Kitchen connected, updated — and upbeat. The platform gives neighbors the information they need to live their best New York life.
